Title Search
To determine if the Marquette Libraries own a specific book, magazine, journal,
electronic or audiovisual item use the TITLE option from the main menu. Type the entire
title or as much of the beginning of a title necessary to make it distinctive. MARQCAT
searches for an exact match up to the last letter typed.

Search Tips
- If MARQCAT doesn't find an exact match it will display an alphabetical list of titles on
either side of the title you typed. If browsing this list doesn't locate the title you are
seeking, enter a few key words from the title in the WORDS option.
- Articles (a, an, the, and the foreign equivalents) at the beginning of a title are
ignored, but must be included when within the title.
- Do not abbreviate any words at the beginning or within a title. References to periodical
articles often abbreviate the title of the periodical but MARQCAT does not recognize
abbreviations. Determine the full title by consulting the title list in the indexing
source or ask for assistance at the Reference Desk. Don't guess!
- The names of series, such as the Life Library of Art, should
be searched in the TITLE option.
