Form describes what the item is:

• Dissertations
• DVDs
• Theses
• Videos

Genre describes a category or style of fiction, drama, film, etc.

• Animated films
• Historical drama
• Juvenile literature
• Mystery fiction
• War poetry

Genre/Form headings are relatively new and therefore, are not comprehensively applied to all records in MARQCAT. For example, a genre search of "Mystery fiction" will not retrieve records for all mystery fiction works in the collection. You may also want to try your search terms in the SUBJECT search index. Genre/Form headings have been added to the records for all Videos, DVDs, Theses, Dissertations, and Children's books.

If the results are unsatisfactory, try searching the form or genre words using the WORDS search option.
